During an emergency, buildings may be evacuated. One proven method of emergency response is to be prepared. The Evacucheck Room Verification System is an essential tool for emergency preparedness and management.
When seconds count, there is no time to loose. The Evacucheck Room Verification System indicates the status of the room during emergency conditions through its unique, patented design. In the event of an emergency such as a fire, a gas leak, a bomb threat or a flood, the Evacucheck Room Verification System saves time and lives by preventing duplication of effort. The system is also ideal during routine security rounds and searches for missing persons.
When everyone has vacated the room the system is activated. Evacucheck will show if someone has returned to the room.
Figure A (click to see a larger image) shows the device in open position. The Evacucheck Room Verification System is permanently mounted to the door with a strong adhesive. Once the status of the room has been verified, the unit is opened and is magnetically fastened to the door frame. Thus, when the unit is in open position, it confirms that a thorough search was performed and that the room was unoccupied. The end result is that the emergency team can quickly assess the status of a room: if the device is in closed position (Figure B-click to see a larger image), then the room has been accessed and must be verified.
If the door to a room is opened by more than one inch, a powerful springe hinge reverts the system automatically to the closed position. The unit cannot be reset from inside the room. Figure B shows the unit in the closed position, indicating that the door has been opened by more than one inch. The device can be installed on any door and is coated with a highly reflective 3M diamond grade sheet. The device must be installed 22 inches above the floor. It is highly visible in low light and smoke filled environments, such as those that would be encountered in emergencies.
